Welcome to the Village of East Nassau!
PUBLIC NOTICE: Public Hearing on Proposed Local Law No. 3 of 2016
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that Local Law No. 3 of 2016 has been introduced by the Board of Trustees of the Village of East Nassau, for purposes of commencing the adoption process. The proposed Local Law No. 3 of 2016 would repeal Local Law No. 1 of 2016 which allowed the Board of Trustees to override the tax levy limit of 2% imposed by Chapter 97 of the Laws of 2011 (Part A- Property Tax Cap) (also known as the “property tax cap law”) that affects all local governments. The Board of Trustees has since adopted a fiscal year 2016-2017 budget that does not exceed the tax levy limit. Repealing the local law that allowed the Board to override the tax levy limit allows village property tax payers to participate in the State’s Tax Freeze Credit program which distributes to individual taxpayers funds related to the tax cap.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a public hearing on proposed Local Law No. 3 of 2016 will be held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of East Nassau at the Hoags Corners Ambulance Building, located on Town Garage Road, in Hoags Corners, Village of East Nassau, on Wednesday, May 11, at 6:45 p.m. for the purpose of providing an opportunity for interested individuals to comment on the proposed local law as described above. Written comments addressed to the Board of Trustees will also be accepted at the hearing. Written comments may be mailed to the Village office address, Village of East Nassau, P.O. Box 268, East Nassau, NY 12062, or e-mailed to email@example.com. For written comments to be considered by the Board, your name and home address must be included. The entire text of the proposed law is on the Village website: villageofeastnassau.org. All those interested in receiving a printed copy of the proposed local law prior to the public hearing should contact the Village Clerk at 794-0289.
