MISSION STATEMENT

The Senior Advocacy Committee of the Village of East Nassau seeks to reach out to, to support and to advocate for our senior residents in order to allow them to age in place within the community to the fullest extent possible in a safe, independent and healthy way while maintaining a good quality of life.

To that end, we seek to identify the unmet needs of our senior residents and help to find solutions to meet those needs. Those solutions may include providing information about available programs, facilitating program access, defining and providing what services we can, creating new services where needed and advocating for resources within the village and beyond to meet the mutually identified needs.

The implementation of our mission may include:

  • Locating all our senior residents
  • Reaching out to all our senior residents
  • Facilitating access to available programs and services for seniors
  • Identifying and creating new services within the village
  • Sponsoring and participating in community-building events:
  • breakfasts at local firehouses;
  • annual yard sale;
  • yearly cookie contest;
  • production and distribution of a quarterly senior newsletter;
  • free storage and delivery of Durable Medical Equipment;
  • any activities that bring seniors together.
